Description
Nenko Balkanski was born in Kazanlak on 20.09.1907. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1930 and in 1939-1941 he specialized in France and Italy. From 1946 he was a lecturer at the Academy of Arts, where he also headed the painting department. After the death of Nenko Balkanski (1977) the Kazanlak Municipality restored the artist's native house. In 1981 his wife Lilyana Balkanska donated 267 paintings and 1271 graphic works and drawings to the Kazanlak Art Gallery. The house, renovated after the restoration, with the exhibition hall built to it, was opened for visitors in 1991. A selected part of the donation is displayed there.
