The September Uprising of 1923 was an unsuccessful rebellion organised by the Bulgarian Communist Party (BCP) under pressure from the Comintern, in an attempt to overthrow the regime of the Democratic Conspiracy established by the Ninth June coup earlier that year. It also involved left-wing farmers and anarchists. The uprising was aimed at "establishing a workers-peasants government" in Bulgaria.
