Monument to Dimitar Georgiev Sarandelchev

In the years of the First World War the young Dimitar Georgiev (Saranedelchev) worked on a prototype machine gun that was more effective and deadly than the German weapons. Encounters in the trenches, however, changed his beliefs and perceptions forever and he embraced the ideas of Tolstoyism, preaching tolerance and non-violence. Dimitar discontinued work on the machine gun and put all his talent and skill into the creation of Bulgarian stringed musical instruments under the "Cremona" brand.
