Petko Stainov, the blind master of tone art, is recognized as one of the most prominent classics of Bulgarian musical culture, who contributed immensely to the creation of the Bulgarian musical style. His significant role is determined above all by his distinctive creativity. Petko Stainov laid the foundations of Bulgarian symphonic music and played a fundamental role in the formation and development of choral music in Bulgaria. He was the founder and first chairman of the Society of Bulgarian Composers, the forerunner of the Union of Bulgarian Composers. In 1941, he was elected an academician of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, on his initiative the Institute of Music at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was founded.
